Gold medal winner of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, the
California native with Hawai’i roots has become one of the most sought-after pianists of his generation. Jon Nakamatsu enjoys a continuously expanding career based on a deeply probing and illuminating musicality as well as a quietly charismatic
performing style. His Hilo concert will include music by Clementi, Schumann, and that other famous composer born 200 years ago, Frederic Chopin.
