It has been over two years since HCS has presented a live concert as part of its season. But the hiatus is about to end. On Tuesday, May 31, 7:30pm at the UH Hilo Performing Arts Center, we are presenting a concert by long time Hilo favorite, pianist Joyce Yang. Bursting with both talent and personality, Ms. Yang has performed four previous times in our seasons since winning the Van Cliburn Competition’s silver medal in 2005 at age 19 (the youngest ever to do so).  In this concert she will perform music by Mozart, Rachmaninoff (five preludes), and Tchaikovsky, and will conclude with Liszt’s B minor piano sonata, an incredible tour de force for a piano soloist.

The ticket price for this special one-hour concert (without intermission) is only $10. Our ticket outlets in Hilo are Music Exchange and The Most Irresistible Shop. Unsold tickets will be available at the door. Ticket sales and attendance are limited to 300 in accordance with current Performing Arts Center restrictions. Seating is unreserved. Masks are required by U.H. Hilo. For those who forget to bring them, HCS will have some on hand at the door on May 31.
